The JFK and Jackie Kennedy wedding was held at the St. Mary’s Church in Newport, Rhode Island. And their wedding was the social event of the season.

BOSTON, MA. – A collection of 13 original photo negatives from the wedding of then Senator John F. Kennedy (JFK) and Jacqueline Bouvier were put on auction by Boston RR Auction. And the auction ran from September 26th to October 15th, 2014.

The most likely unpublished negatives sold for $27,073USD to a doctor in Las Vegas.

The Senator and Jackie Kennedy wedding was on September 12, 1953, at St. Mary’s Church. The Kennedy wedding had over 700 guests at the ceremony and 1,200 at their reception. And the event was a feature in Life magazine. One of the clips from its article read that the Kennedy wedding was the most impressive the old society stronghold had seen in 30 years.

Jackie wore a traditional wedding gown by Ann Lowe (1898-1981). And it had 50 yards of silk taffeta with a full circular skirt tucked and pleated. Her accessorizes were a pearl necklace and a lace chapel length veil. Her bridesmaids wore pink taffeta gowns by Lowe. Jackie’s wedding dress is the most photographed wedding dress in history. And it is in the Kennedy Library in Boston.

The negatives were kept in their original folders and labeled at a later date ‘Pres. Kennedy 1953’. Each one of the negatives have a 5 x 4 print in its folder. And they are the first prints made from these negatives.
