If you are planning a trip to New York City this summer, check out the High Line Hotel’s seasonal outdoor restaurant. And the complimentary bicycles they provide to their guests to explore the neighborhood.

Joe Campanale, a restaurateur and beverage expert heads up the restaurant in the hotel’s courtyard. With Chef Francis Peabody who creates a modern take on a rustic Italian menu.

Chef Francis Peabody modern Italian menu begins with Bruschette with toppings like whipped ricotta and acacia honey. Next is a choice of Insalata, an Italian style salad. Peekytoe Crab, avocado, grapefruit, pickled chiles and frisee. And all this is before you get to the main dish as shown in the images below. The dessert is true Italian gelato and sorbet. Their Ricotta Rice Pudding is with candied pecans, seasonal fruit and fig Vincotto.

The beverage menu has several summer aperitivi cocktails. Including a Frozen Negroni made with Campari, red vermouth and gin. Or a Blood Moon a mixture of tonic, lemon and orange bitters. The menu also includes beer, Vermouth by the glass, and an Italian-focused wine list.

  • Fregola with citrus, beets, golden raisins, capers and ricotta salata.

For its summer bicycle tours, the hotel teams up with Shinola, a Detroit bike company. The tours are for their hotel guests and neighbors. If you want to join the ride check on the selected Friday afternoons tours until September.

The one hour tour will take you to local places in the neighborhood. And it gives the hotel’s neighbors a chance to interact with visitors to their areas.

To reserve a spot on a specific date, you can email [email protected]. The first five riders to confirm their participation on each date receive a High Line Hotel-branded Shinola Runwell bicycle for the afternoon. Others are encouraged to bring their own bike. The rides start at 4pm on the scheduled date when weather permits.

The High Line front tree-lined courtyard and garden has 90-seat space for dining. The space channels the culture of Italian al-fresco with a bubbling fountain and large white umbrellas. It is reminiscent of cosmopolitan Italian piazza dining from which the concept is inspired. A white marble-topped bar is beneath the shade of trees against the historic hotel building. That is a converted seminary from the 18th century.
