BOOKS
for entertaining
by Shelley Waugh
Rosé, A Guide to the World’s Most Versatile
Think pink is weaved throughout the book
by wine and food authority, Jeff Morgan, who produces rosé himself with photographs by France Ruffenach.
The refreshing book is the history and culture guide to distinguish the best rosés - fresh and bright or lush and fruity, as well as tips on how best to serve them. There are also recipes to enjoy with the wine.
In explaining the shades of rosé pinks, Morgan says not to get bogged down on the question of color and explains the reasons why. He suggests letting your palate – and not your eyes be the judge of quality.
Rosé is usually thought of as a refreshing bright, cool, drink made for a warm summer afternoon. However, since rosé is best drunk chilled, like a white wine, that is drunk all year around, so is rosé, especially when it enhances seafood and many other kinds of dishes in the winter as well as the summer.
The Rosé guide takes you through France and beyond in Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the new world rosés – California and Australia, as well as the sparkling rosés from most of the countries.
Pairing food and wine needn’t be complicated Morgan writes, and includes several recipes with photos. Interesting are the fried oysters. We’ll try them.

HOSTING
Emily Post's Wedding Parties
Parties between the engagement and tossing the bouquet
Weddings are more than the big day—the parties start months in advance and often continue after the wedding. Celebrations often have a traditional perspective and explores trends in wedding parties and entertaining styles.
The book contains the common sense etiquette guidelines to help hosts plan and execute pre- and post-wedding gatherings with creative ideas for indoor and outdoor parties such as when to hold the engagement party, showers, gatherings for attendants the week of the wedding, stocking the bar and choosing the menu, who to invite and when to send out invitations, how many parties are too many and guidelines for belated receptions
According to author Anna Post, etiquette is based on the three principles of consideration, honesty and respect. These principles help couples deal with many situations, some of them awkward or difficult, that happen between announcing the engagement and tossing the bouquet.
She also deals with question such as - do bridesmaids have to host a shower? Should you bring a gift to an engagement party? Who pays for the bachelor party? Should all of the out-of-town guests be invited to the rehearsal dinner and more.
Anna Post is the great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post and the newest member of the Post family to write about etiquette. Visit Anna's blog at http://
