Favors

Tradition has it that the Bride and Groom give "good luck" favors to their guests. In ancient times, guests would tear off a piece of the bride's dress or take a flower from her bouquet as a keepsake and as a thank-you for having participated in such a special day. Even today, giving favors is a way to present your guests with a lasting memory of your special day. But they are not mandatory. If you are going to include them in your wedding plans, don't forget to add the costs to the budget in your wedding binder.

Make it or Buy it
Favors can be made or bought. They can be anything you wish - personalized candied almonds,  monogrammed items such as champagne glasses with or without almonds, decorated candles, something floral, a knotted ribbon from your bouquet, pretty soaps wrapped with tulle and ribbons, netted potpourri, seashells with a message tied with ribbons, miniature baskets of candies, a collectible holiday or theme item, your wedding photo in a frame, an instant photograph of you and your guests, a personal message in a scroll, a piece of a breakaway designed centerpiece or an ethnic token . . . the ideas are endless!

Favors are often placed on each guest table, or on a decorated table where the guests can take one when they leave, or they are sent to the guests with a thank-you card (for the gift the couple received and for attending their day of celebration).
