Ashiatsu (ashi means foot and atsu means pressure) is an ancient form of bodywork originally used by Buddhist monks. Today, the treatment combines traditional Asian elements with modern technique and application. The treatment takes place on a classic massage table with the client lying on their stomach while the therapist is supported above the table with the help of two parallel bars suspended from the ceiling. The primary point of contact is through the therapist’s feet.
