CASA COLONIAL BEACH & SPA
The Bagua Spa is a 12,400-square-foot spa designed by Dominican architect Sarah Garcia in the Casa Colonial Beach & Spa five-star oceanfront resort in Puerto Plata. The concept of the spa is derived from the ancient practice of Feng Shui, the study of aligning physical surroundings to maximize greater health and productivity. The spa features 10 tranquil therapy rooms, including three outdoor oceanfront treatment gazebos set over a tropical pond with waterfalls.
Drawing from the minerals and tropical plant extracts indigenous to the area, the spa offers unique therapies with ingredients known in the area for natural medicinal and healing elements, such as gemstone amber, royal bee jelly, honey and ocean water.
Dominican Republic’s Amber Coast houses the richest amber deposits in the world and the spa has incorporated this stone, which possesses a strong healing power and can absorb negative energy, into the treatments and therapies exclusive to the spa. Another treatment element found only at the spa is royal bee jelly, a substance from the island’s honeybees rich in amino acids and minerals, and noted for its rejuvenating effects.
