Old World Charm in Buffalo - Salvatore’s Garden Place Hotel

December 13, 2011, Buffalo & Fort Erie, New York

Review by Kevin Haber

My wife and I currently ventured off the beaten path to Buffalo NY, home of the Buffalo Wing and great discount shopping! And much to our surprise, we happened upon a diamond in the rough…Salvatore’s Garden Place Hotel, located in Fort Erie and basically smack dab in the middle of the best shopping district in all of Buffalo!

Half the price compared to Toronto, plus discounts on almost every product you can imagine! There’s almost no better place for bargains, with the exception of Pennsylvanian which has 0% taxes on clothes and groceries…

Well, we arrived at the hotel and at first glance it looked like something out of the ancient Roman period, with all the picturesque statues, it was as if we were transported back in time…but as we entered and became more accustomed to the surroundings, it struck me that, we had just walked into a real live version of the Casino Royale, without the casino of course.

The Hotel was built in 1995, with originally 49 rooms. Multi-Phase expansions have taken place to make it now a 166 room property
starting at your standard run-of-the mill, to your mega sized luxury suite and the amenities were quite pleasing.

In fact, every 50-feet there was a free coffee and espresso station and a lounge area with free news papers. I thought it was rather a nice touch considering the size of the hotel. There was also a breakfast buffet included in our stay, plus the attached bar and restaurant are very convenient.

But, what really blew my mind was Salvatore’s Italian Gardens Restaurant, just a five minute ride from the hotel and considered by some, to be one of the only five-star restaurants in Buffalo. All the waiters wear tuxes and white gloves, and although we waited a bit for our food to arrive, and everyone was very hospitable, the food was just ridiculously tasty.

I recommend the Shrimp Scampi, right, the Shrimps were super gigantic, probably the largest jumbo shrimps I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating, but besides the food, the restaurant is more than just a restaurant, it actually extends into several banquet halls, boasting a capacity of nearly 5000 people with staff and three huge kitchens!

It’s an amazing complex that hosts between 500 to 1000 events per year, consisting of weddings, anniversaries and special corporate celebrations…it’s one of the most accommodating venues to hold an event, as the staff bends over backwards to make every single request a reality for their customers.

We can’t wait to go back and visit Salvatore’s Garden Place Hotel and Salvatore's Restaurant, in fact, we hear that Christmas is an extravaganza and something not to be missed! And we’re looking forward to seeing all the amazing renovations too.

Kudos to Salvatore’s!
