Canadiana Winter Wedding for Toronto artist
January 28, Muskoka, ON Canada
BECKIE DI LEO & BRIAN ROSS
Toronto-based artist/performer/teacher, Beckie Di Leo, and Brian Ross, left, were married at a Canadiana Cottage Chic - themed winter wedding.
The setting for the ceremony was highlighted in Scottish tartan ribbon and a tartan carpet lined the aisle. The bride and groom walked the isle to the sounds of harp and violin.
The bride’s dress was custom-designed by designer
Lucian Matis
. The groom, Brian Ross (of Scottish decent), wore a
Gotstyle
suit with tartan cufflinks. The bridesmaids wore dresses by
Lovas
.
Set in a winter wonderland the guests were entertained all weekend-long at the historic Sherwood Inn, a destination on Lake Joseph in Muskoka.
Weekend events for the couple's wedding guests included a wine and cheese on Friday evening by a roaring fire and ice skating on the lake with a bonfire, snow-shoeing and cross country skiing Saturday and Sunday, cottage games and Canadian history trivia during the dinner hour for Canadiana prizes (thanks to old History textbooks that were going to be tossed away at her high school)
The reception menu was Ontario Pickerel or Striploin Canadian and winter-themed drinks. The décor included pine cones and fresh cut log candles borrowed from nature in the surrounding forest and created by the bride and her art students.
The wedding invitation, requested guests to dress in theme colors: red, black and slate, features Canadian winter-inspired sketches by the artist bride, pictured left.
Di Leo
also designed her wedding cake and produced abstract tartan-inspired oil paintings as gifts for their wedding guests.
