COVER: THE PALAZZO – Las Vegas

The Palazzo in Las Vegas

Palazzo wedding planners make dreams come true

by Frances Greenwood

Getting married in Las Vegas these days is no longer confined to a quick visit to a Wedding Chapel, and if the Palazzo Hotel has anything to do with it, your wedding will be what dreams are made of.

Picture this, a wonderful dramatic staircase descending to an opulent lobby, the Bride slowly step by step coming closer and closer to her Groom while the guests stare up watching her every move.  Yes, you guessed it, this is the Lobby for the “Phantom of the Opera” and it is a wonderful venue for any wedding ceremony and reception.

The Palazzo is an opulent world class hotel that caters to visitors that expect to be pampered.  From the first moment you arrive and walk by the beautiful “Lalique Sculpture” in the rotunda in front of the main lobby and approach the very efficient front desk to check in, you just know that your stay will be restful and stressless. Their spacious suites offer every luxury, from extremely comfortable sleeping areas, the latest in wireless Hi-Speed connections, LCD  HDTV, relaxing lounge area and beautifully appointed bathrooms with soft robes and towels.

This sister hotel of the Venetian offers a wide range of amenities and activities including the Canyon Ranch Spa, fine and casual dining  to suit every taste, wonderful pool area, entertainment, shopping and more.

For a couple planning a wedding the Palazzo has so much to offer, whether it is a small intimate affair, a larger tasteful wedding and reception, or an over the top extravagant dream. The very unique Palazzo Hospitality Parlors with fireplaces, petite side gardens adjoining a ring of terraces and private dining areas can be configured to your needs or you can select the lovely Venetian wedding chapel area which features three chapels of different sizes along with outside areas featuring Romanesque fountains, greenery, and sculptures contained in a beautiful  plaza area. Also available are areas throughout the Palazzo public areas, one especially pretty one is the Waterfall in the Atrium of the Shoppes at the Palazzo.

Your own personal “wedding planner“ will be more than helpful in guiding you and making your planning process as calm and easy as possible with special attention paid to your requests. From the smallest budget or the largest, your wishes are theirs to make come true. Need someone to perform the ceremony, flowers for the chapel/reception area and the wedding party, table linen, cutlery to be chosen,  decorations, music, food, beverages, a photographer, they can and will look after the smallest details for you.

Whether booking into the hotel for a wonderful wedding weekend or week for the whole bridal party there are many areas that can accommodate the wedding party activities, traditional or other.

Now for a bit of whimsy, the poolside cabana bridal luncheon with the bride sporting a small head-dress and the cute bikini bottom with “bride” on it. She and the female members of the bridal party all enjoying their special Wolfgang Puck Luncheon while taking in some sunshine and frolicking in the pool area.

For the groom planning a stag, boys night out, a good start would be at the Double Helix Wine Bar in the heart of the Shoppes at the Palazzo, or Lagasse’s Stadium Sports Bar as well as a visit to the Casino to test their luck!

Shoppes did someone mention shopping? The Shoppes at  the Palazzo feature a large “Barney’s New York” Burberry, Fendi, Michael Kors,  Piaget, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, and many, many more well known names. Looking for special gifts for the female members of the wedding party be sure to stop by ICE Jewellery where you can find an eclectic selection with something for everyone, and for the guys, Cole Haan, or Montblanc for that perfect thank you gift.

If there is going to be a Rehearsal Dinner, you cannot go wrong with choosing “Charlie’s Restaurant” by Charlie Trotter, a beautiful restaurant with relaxed ambience coupled with superb modern cuisine and service so accommodating the guests may never want to leave. On a recent visit, after informing the waiting staff that we had food restrictions (allergies) the chef made impromptu sides that were not on the menu as well as baked special delicious gluten-free cornbread and had it presented with his compliments. Now I ask you…wow!

So now the big day arrives and everybody can be a bit tense, what better way to relax and pamper the wedding party than a visit to the Canyon Ranch Spa where the female members can have manicures, pedicures, hair and make-up done and the guys massages, hair cuts, manicures etc., and they can meet for lunch at the Spa’s bar restaurant as well.

The relaxed beautifully turned out members of the Wedding Party make their way to the chosen venue, the guests arrive and are ushered to their seats and so your most special wedding begins, no worries, all taken care of, it's a dream come true!
