Tips for Newlyweds
by Evelyn Pothier
The kitchen is the most used room in the home
From place settings and cookware, to appliances and all the extras, the kitchen is the most used room in the home. An independent survey was conducted on behalf of DuPont Teflon to better understand which kitchen items people use.
The number one item, not surprisingly, cookware (named by 23 percent of the respondents), which was selected based on the following characteristics:
• non-stick (28 percent)
• acceptable price (27 percent)
• brand name (17 percent) and
• quality and durability (7 percent).
Other items included
• coffee makers (13 percent)
• electric mixers (8 percent)
• blenders (7 percent) and
• toasters (4 percent).
When it comes to using their cookware, according to the survey respondents, the first recipes people should know how to cook are:
• spaghetti (30 percent)
• scrambled eggs (20 percent)
• pot roast (15 percent)
• meatloaf (12 percent) and
• pancakes (6 percent).
Go through your kitchen to take stock of what you have, and what you want to replace or change. Consider the size, style, color and its functionality.
