PRESENT BUSH ESCORTS JENNA DOWN THE AISLE
Bride & Mother of the Bride's gowns by Oscar De la Renta

Father of the Bride, President George W. Bush and his daughter, Jenna.

CRAWFORD, Texas, May 10, 2008 ...
Jenna Bush and Henry Hager
were married just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony before a 4-foot limestone cross and altar that was the president's idea, pictured above, for the occasion and will stand as a permanent landmark on the Bushes' secluded 1,600 acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford. Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, presided over the ceremony.

Jenna, 26, wore an Oscar de la Renta gown — organza, sheer fabric, embroidery with matte beading. Her earrings: 18-carat white gold and platinum, chain-framed minted iced quartz teardrops. The ring: Platinum with a round diamond from the groom's maternal great grandmother. The diamond is flanked by sapphires.

Henry, 30, wore a dark blue suit with powder-blue tie. His Best Man was his brother, John "Jack" Hager. In keeping with Jenna's desire for an "organic and natural" feel to the wedding, the men dressed in suits – not black tie.

Jenna's twin sister, Barbara, was Maid of Honor and 14 other women were part of the "House Party." Barbara Bush wore wear a long, moonstone blue dress with a low-cut back. The gown is accented with a silver sash to compliment those used for the House Party’s dresses. The women in the "house party" were in seven different styles of knee-length dresses in seven different colors that match the palate of Texas wildflowers — blues, greens, lavenders and pinky reds.

Mother of the Bride, First Lady
Laura Bush, wore a deep turquoise gown also by Oscar de la Renta. Jenna Bush's paternal grandparents, President George H.W. BushBarbara Bush, spoke during the wedding.

More than 200 family and friends converged here for the nuptials on the 1,600-acre ranch where a tent was erected for the post-ceremony dinner and dancing by Nashville-based wedding singer Tyrone Smith, otherwise known as Super T and a favorite at Southern frat parties. Jenna and Harry chose
Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes by Taj Mahal
for their first dance. The president and the bride picked You Are So Beautiful for their father-daughter dance.

The wedding festivities began Friday with a bridal lunch, a rehearsal dinner and a post-rehearsal dinner celebration in Salado, a tiny tourist village, which used to be a stagecoach stop.

The rehearsal dinner for about 100 people was hosted by the parents of the groom, who turned 30 on Friday. Hager's father, John Hager, is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party and is former lieutenant governor of Virginia and former U.S. assistant secretary of education.

The rehearsal dinner crowd, including the president, then walked down a street in Salado with the Belton High School Marching Band from Belton, Texas, to a
celebration at another establishment.

The town of Crawford was decorated to wish the couple the best. School teacher decorated a angel of Love sculpture with a bridal veil and bouquet, Jenna and Harry coffee cups, right, and other items were available in souvenir shops.

The couple are reported to be honeymooning in Europe.

The newlyweds met in 2004, when both of them were working on her father's reelection campaign. He is finishing up his final year at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, and expected to get his degree later this month and then begin work for an energy company based in Baltimore, Md., where he and Jenna recently bought a townhouse. She is expected to return to teaching and continue her writings.

The House Party dresses
Texas designer Lela Rose created the Maid of Honor and House Party (14 attendants) dresses. She has known Jenna and the Bush family for years and feels "it is an honor—both professionally and personally—to be a part of Jenna’s special day and privileged to dress and be surrounded by the women that mean so much to her.”

For Jenna’s House Party, Lela designed silk crinkle chiffon cocktail length dresses, below, all adorned with handmade chiffon rosettes. The range of colors used, in shades to compliment the native Texas wildflowers. Visit www.lelarose.com. and for their first dance.
