BRIDAL SHOES

Walking Down the Aisle
Your feet are important to keep healthy as you move through your planning days right up to the shoes you'll be wearing when you walk down the aisle.

by Shelley Waugh
If you don't have the right fit for the style you choose for your shoes you will ruin your wedding day, so take good care in selecting your footwear. If you want heels but can't be in them for a long period of time, put comfortable low shoes, ballet slippers or fancy flip flops in a tote bag and have your Maid of Honor keep them in a safe place so that you can change shoes when you want to.

Bridal shoes are the same as regular ones, they come in different styles, heel heights, and colors. Styles include open and closed toes, platform, wedge, straps, mules, slides, pumps, sling backs, round or square toes, flip flops, ballet slippers and more. Heights vary from flats, low, mid-heel, high to spike heels. Popular colors are ivory, white, champagne, gold, silver and taupe and if you can't find the color you want you can always choose shoes that are dyeable. Prices range from under $20 to designer shoe prices with the average range from $50-$300.

SHOES YOU'LL LOVE
Walking down the aisle in comfort is what every bride wants as she is entering a change in her life. Whether it's a destination wedding or a garden wedding the shoes have to match the dress. If it's a traditional wedding in high heels the bride is usually looking for a more comfortable wedding shoe she can change into after the ceremony.

The bridal collection from OKA b. in Atlanta, Georgia has
created five styles of bridal sandals and co-ordinating bridesmaid shoes in a soft palette of bridal whites and creamy tones with unique facets that includes interchangeable ribbons for the bachelorette party (they make great gifts for the bride's wedding party), wedding day and honeymoons, and adornments made from hand set crystals, seashells and silk rosettes, pictured right.

The company's signature craftsmanship, known for extreme comfort are designed with ergonomic footbeds and massage beads to pamper feet and aid posture. All are also bacteria resistant, non-slip, durable, washable and recyclable and priced under US$40.

Recyclable and stylish uber-comfortable and posture-friendly flip-flops, sandals, slides and thongs, in vibrant colours are also available for pre-wedding celebrations or the honeymoon. A selection is also available for men. Photos: The bride is wearing Savannah. Right: Juliet. Visit www.ShoesThatLoveYou.com

Styles by Lily Holt in Palm Beach, Florida, who is known for semiprecious stones and crystal-encrusted footwear. She also includes braided leathers, metallic snakeskins and seashells on sandals and heels, pictured right and above, that range from $200 to $375.

Your bridesmaids need to coordinate their shoes with yours so also take care in selecting these items together.
