Worldly Charm
in San Francisco’s Japantown
If you're planning a destination wedding in California, the Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco offers a one of a kind setting and experienced staff who can create an international wedding that accurately embraces traditional themes and ceremonial charm from anywhere in the world.
The boutique hotel is located in the heart of Japantown and adjacent to the Fillmore Street shopping corridor that provides an ideal home base for honeymooners for exploring cultural theatres, shopping, and cuisine as well as Union Square, Nob Hill, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghiradelli Square and the city’s cable cars.
California’s largest independent boutique hotelier, Joie de Vivre’s multi-million dollar renovation of 30-year-old Miyako Hotel, renamed the Hotel Kabuki, officially opened last October. The extensive renovations includes two traditional Japanese-style suites, a fitness center, and 218 guest rooms with flat screen television, iPod docking station, Frette linens, silk-lined Kimono style bathrobes, wireless high-speed connectivity and a Japanese inspired honor bar.

St. Lucia
ROMANCE IS IN THE AIR
Anthony Verombeck
editor,
GROOM
Recently I was invited to the island of St. Lucia for a three day greet, meet and tour with other journalists from North America. Getting there from Toronto, Canada on the American Airlines early flight meant being at the airport at 4 a.m. Check-in and Customs were fast. Then there’s the waiting time for the flight so bring your own morning treats. Once in the air, by the time you have taken a short nap you’ll be landing in St Lucia. At the airport we were greeted and taken to our host resort, the Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. There the staff gave us a warm welcome with a fresh drink and towel before taking us to our rooms.
This is one trip I left the tech toys at home – no cell phone or laptop – so I could enjoy the sounds and smells and sights of this island
of seventh heaven. The fascinating thing is that this island is a live volcano!
