July 4, 1999, Ireland

David Beckham
and Spice Girls' singer
Victoria
(née Adams) were married on the fourth of July 1999 by the Bishop of Cork, Paul Colton at the 560-acre estate of the 1794, gothic
Luttrellstown Castle
, outside Dublin, Ireland.
Most of the media were kept away from the intimate ceremony that included 29 close friends and family members as an exclusive deal with
OK!
magazine had been arranged, but photographs were released showing Victoria, then 25, and David, then, 24, sitting on golden thrones on a raised platform with the couple's four month old son Brooklyn's crib at their side.
"As they became man and wife, a single dove was released as a symbol of their love. Posh Spice, one of the architects of the Spice Girls group's 'girl-power' philosophy, stuck to her principles and did not pledge to 'obey' the Manchester United player. The new Mr. and Mrs. Beckham both shed tears after exchanging vows."
Victoria wore a tightly fitting ivory wedding dress designed by Vera Wang accessorized with a diamond coronet created for her by jewellery designer Slim Barrett. The bride's attire was matched by David's ivory and cream suit. Their purple party reception outfits were designed by
Antonio Berardi
, pictured right.
The bridesmaid was Victoria's sister Louise. Louise's daughter Liberty and David's niece Georgia were dressed as angels and served as flower girls. Former English footballer, Gary Neville, was David's best man, and the couple's four month old son Brooklyn was the ring bearer.
A total of 437 staff were employed for the elaborate wedding reception that numbered approximately 230 guests and featured an 18-piece orchestra, disco later on in the evening ending with a fireworks display.
David and Victoria didn't want to receive any presents. They preferred to receive shopping vouchers.
The Beckhams have three sons and a daughter. Elton John and David Furnish are reportedly the godparents of Brooklyn and Romeo, and the godmother is actress Elizabeth Hurley.
The couple met in 1997 at a charity football match and started to date. They were engaged January 25, 1998 when David proposed on one knee. Their engagement party was held at Rookery Hall in Nantwich.
The superstar couple,
David
, 36, and
Victoria
, 37, have been accused of being obsessed with money and celebrity status. They currently have a mansion in Hertfordshire, England, that they bought in 1999, a $6 million home in Madrid, Spain and in 2007, they purchased a home in Los Angeles, California.
David and Victoria were invited to Prince William and Catherine Middleton's wedding April 29, 2010, pictured left. David Beckham asked his fans to celebrate his 36th birthday, May 2, by buying footballs for needy children across the world in a campaign for charity UNICEF.
