Nicole Kidman's Style Look for the 2012 Golden Globes

January 15, 2012, Hollywood, CA
Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii began the 2012 award season by creating a change in Nicole Kidman's, left, hair color opting for a lighter strawberry blonde inspired by his take on a modern day '40s actress Veronica Lake known for her peek-a-book hairstyle over one eye.

Kidman wore a metallic, skintight beaded Versace halter gown paired with a golden Roger Vivier clutch and Fred Leighton jewels.

To style Kidman's hair, David began with a shampoo to maintain her hair color balance while hydrating with pure botanicals. Next, he applied a small amount of hair oil to add additional shine and protect the hair from thermal damage.

To dry, he used a small round brush to create an ultra smooth finish while bumping the ends under. To complete this "Veronica Lake" look, right, David used a large barrel curling iron, wrapping only the bottom portion of the section around the barrel to create soft natural waves. To finish, he created a side part and lifted the root area with spray lightly spritzing the ends for a long lasting hold.

Emily Van Camps curls
Carl Bailey, celebrity hairstylist on the set of the breakout TV series Revenge reveals how he achieves Emily Van Camp's curls for the lead role of "Emily Thorne".

1. On damp hair, he applies a quarter-size amount of a cream to repair and protect her color treated hair. This leave-in treatment mends split ends and restores internal moisture, while also making tresses stronger, smoother, and shinier.

2. For Emily's naturally fine hair, he mists her entire head with a volumizing spray before he begins to style.

3. Next, he blow-dries her hair with a diffuser attachment, making sure to scrunch the hair with his fingers while drying for additional texture.

4. To create the curls Emily's character has been wearing on Revenge, he wraps small sections around a large barrel curling iron and release. To give her curls extra staying power, he sprays the style with a long lasting hold spray, which is a must for filming.

Katherine Heigl romantically textured style
Katherine Heigl romantically textured hair style is by hairstylist David Babaii.
1. To start, he applied a dime-sized amount of oil to her clean, damp hair, massaging this alcohol-free treatment into her hair to add texture, strength and shine without weighing it down.

2. Next, he blow dried her hair using a dryer with a small round brush to make both texture and waves on her short cut. He dried each section at a 90 degree angle for maximum lift at the root while cupping the ends.

3. After drying, David took the point of a rattail comb to define and position her texture. To create volume and height, he used his fingers to lift small sections as he brought her waves up and back.

Gwyneth Paltrow's edgy look at Emmys
Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, left, is in a black sheer Pucci dress, Neil Lane jewelry, Roger Vivier spider sandals with a straight edgy hair look created by hairstylist David Babaii.

David took a straight look and dissolved it to create soft texture.
To begin, he took a small amount of oil and massaged it into the hair prior to blow drying. After the hair was completely dry, he parted her hair down the middle and divided strands into 4 sections (sides, crown and nape).

To straighten, David used a 1" flat iron with even temperature control. He started at the nape working up toward the crown and sides.

To finish and create movement, he added an additional amount of oil to his hands running it through her hair and scrunching to create this "straight edgy" look.

Christina "Boho" Braid on The Voice
Hairstylist David Babaii created a "Boho" braid for judge Christina Aguilera that she wore last June on The Voice.

To achieve, David applied a small amount of Couture Colour Pequi Oil throughout her hair.

Next, he loosely parted her bang area down the middle, sweeping them to the side. On the left side, he took two small sections (one at the temple area and one near the ear) and braided them securing them at the ends with tiny bands and allowing them to fall naturally.

The rest of her hair was finger combed rolling her tresses to the left side and braiding the remaining long hair. To finish, David applied an additional amount of oil by smoothing over the surface and braids for a brilliant shine.

Jada Pinkett at the 2011 Grammy Awards
HOLLYWOOD, CA - Celebrity hairstylist Marcia Hamilton created Jada Pinkett Smith's, look, left, for the Awards. Her dress is by Amanda Wakeley.

To achieve this look, Marcia began by shampooing her hair. She gently towel dried the hair and then sprayed on The Fix, right, from roots to ends. Next, she sectioned the hair vertically from the center of the forehead to the nape. Each section was cornrowed straight back again from the forehead to the nape.

The hair was allowed to dry thoroughly using a hair blower. When the hair was completely dry, Marcia applied water drops to her hands and then gently undid the cornrows. When all the hair was loose, Marcia had Jada flip her head down and over for dramatic volume. To finish, she added additional water drops to her hands and fingers combing hair into place.

Amy Adams Hair look at 2011 Golden Globes
BEVERLY HILLS, - 2011 Golden Globes nominee, Amy Adams, wore a strapless Marchesa gown with her red hair worn in a flowing, back-braided updo created by stylist Laini Reeves.

Amy Adams '20s look
1. Adams naturally wavy hair was washed with shampoo that infuses the hair with an oil, followed by a repair conditioner that controlled the hair and left it smoother, frizz free and easy to manage and style.

2. Styling cream was applied while it was drying, from root to end to give a soft hold while further smoothing the texture and adding definition and shine. Reeves rough-dried the hair with her hands to get the water out and created a bit of a messed up texture with a slight touch of wave for a more modern look. The hair was air dried except at the roots, where she used a blow dryer.

3. Next, a 1” curling iron was used to make curls in different parts of the hair that needed to be filled in, then smoothed and blended them in. She made a side part and prepared some pieces from the front of the hair to frame her face, pinning them in an S-shape and away from the rest of the hair.

4. She then gathered and pulled back the rest of hair, made a loose braid that she doubled up, rolled upwards and pinned at the nape, with the cross texture side of the braid showing and secured with five thick bobby pins in place.

5. Finally, Reeves released the “S”-shaped sections in the front and pinned them behind the ear to open her face up and to show her cheek bones. To finish she sprayed the look with hairspray.

Scarlett Johansson Hair Look at 2011 Golden Globes

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - 2011 Golden Globe Award presenter Scarlett Johansson wore a sparkling blush-colored Elie Saab gown, and a sculpted upsweep by hairstylist, Robert Vetica, influenced by Hollywood glamour of the '40s, and the photographs of '40s and '50s fashion photographer, Lillian Bassman, that blended softness, movement, direction and a new sculptural shape.

Steps to create a sculpted updo:
1. To create a feeling of movement and volume at the back of the head and height at the crown, Vetica started by blow-drying Johansson's hair with a treatment to smooth her texture and ensure shine and flexibility. He then directed the hair back and away from her face and brought it back to the nape of her neck, and then up and towards the crown.

2. Next, he curled small sections of hair starting at the nape of the neck and up towards the crown using a 1/2 inch curling iron. Once he reached the crown, he curled the hair back from her face. When this was finished, there was a tight set of curls throughout her hair, all directed up and towards the crown. He then gave the curls a good spray of hairspray.

3. To finish, he vigourously brushed the hair through, again directing it up and away from the face, up from the neck towards the crown. He then gave the whole look a well-defined backcomb to create a directional shape bringing the hair up and away, followed by a spray of hairspray that not only holds the hair, but it leaves it with a soft, movable hold which was essential to make this look work.

4. Vetica then attached two 1934 Flammes brooches worn as hair clips (round and baguette diamonds set in platinum) from the Van Cleef & Arpels Private Collection.
Her hair was gently brushed through the top of the hair to smooth out the curls and to give it a wave. The finish was by backcombing at the root of the crown for height, spraying the hair with hairspray again to set the look and finished with shine spray.
