BRIDE'S CALENDAR COUNTDOWN (CONTINUED)
Two Weeks before the Wedding (Don't take anything for granted)
1. Confirm by telephone and fax all suppliers of goods and services for your wedding.
2. Check the outfits and accessories for all members of your bridal party. Use a check-off list.
3. Attend the Bridesmaids' Luncheon
4. Pick up your marriage licence.
5. Purchase and wrap your gifts to your wedding party and Groom so that they will be ready to hand out at the get-together following the wedding rehearsal.
6. Plan how you want your wedding gifts to be transported from your reception to either your parent’s home or somewhere else. Assign someone to do this.
7. Your money gift box. One of the new services that brides are using for their weddings is security services which can take the responsibility for watching or handling the money gift envelopes, the event itself, including your home (thieves have been known to break into homes to rob gifts while a wedding is going on somewhere else) or making sure any undesirable guests leave the event. If this is not in your budget, you can assign someone you know to handle the envelopes.
8. Organize a follow-up telephone campaign to call guests who have not answered your invitations. Make sure you know if they are attending the reception so you can add them into your final count
9. For your music at the ceremony, meet with your vocalist and musicians to choose the selections you want. Follow-up and recheck with your time schedule the titles and order of the songs that will be done.
10. The Bride Gift Display - a traditional gesture is the display of wedding gifts at your home. The cards can be removed and cheques should not be shown although you can show a list of people who have sent you cheques.
11. See a final proof of your wedding day program on the actual paper to be used so that you can make any last minute changes.
One Week Before the Wedding
1. Try to keep this week open to allow for emergencies. If you are going to take the week off from work, have your week planned so you are not leaving everything until the last minute.
2. The Groom and/or his Best Man can pay for and pick up the honeymoon tickets.
3. The Groom and/or his Best Man can get travellers cheques.
4. Make a list of items and start packing essentials for the honeymoon. Don't pack clothes until one or two days before. Keep checking your list.
5. If the bride is planning a facial, have it the week before your wedding, not the day before.
6. Print your wedding day ceremony and reception programs (if you are having them).
7. The Groom and/or Best Man should now prepare the fee envelopes for the officiant, vocalist, musicians and other services.
8. Check the payment schedule for services you have ordered for your ceremony and reception.
