about WEDDING SHOWS

Wedding shows feature vendors and fashion shows all under one roof. For the average wedding it takes six months to a year from the engagement announcement to walking down the aisle.

After you've set the date and style of your wedding - informal, formal, or destination, the next thing is a working budget and to find, make or buy the items you'll require for your special day.

Whether it's your first or second marriage, attending wedding or travel shows will give you ideas, trends and possible contacts for the items you are looking for under one roof.

If you set up a three-ring binder with dividers to separate the binder into categories you will be able to keep track of items you pick up at wedding and travel shows. Most of the shows hand out large tote bags for items (brochures) to pickup or that vendors will put into your bag.

Your binder (and pen) is for business cards, brochures, samples and notes of the items that interest you. With a hands-on binder you can update the categories anytime on your computer, save, print and email members of your wedding party. A hard copy allows you to realistically see the items, such as fabric colour swatches, that you've chosen for your wedding.

Binder categories include: contact list, to-do list, schedule and deadlines, budget, bride's outfit, bride's wedding party, groom's attire, groom's wedding party, gift registries, ceremony, reception, flowers and decor, photography and videography, transportation, entertainment, guest lists, seating chart (computerized spreadsheets or 3x5 index cards in box), catering, food & beverages, wedding cake, gifts for the wedding parties, gifts for wedding guests, pre-wedding parties, attire, ceremony, reception and honeymoon.

Budgets are paid by couples or a collective effort between families and should be agreed upon before purchases are ordered or paid for. Staying organized is the key to helping you plan a stress-free wedding.

Grace Kelly: from Movie Star to Princess
Newlyweds, their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène of Monaco, pictured on stamp left, joined in the grand opening festivities on November 2, for Prince Albert's American-born mother, Grace Kelly: from Movie Star to Princess to officially open the exhibition and attend a private reception.

The Exhibition features rarely-displayed items and artifacts ranging from Grace Kelly’s days as a leading lady in Hollywood to a princess of one of Europe's oldest royal families.

The items include many of her original dresses, a special exhibit around an exact replica of Kelly's iconic wedding gown, pictured right on her wedding day with Prince Rainer, her signature “Kelly bag” and tiara, along with photos from her childhood scrapbooks and high school yearbooks, letters signed "Affectionately, Hitch,"(from director Alfred Hitchcock), telegrams from Prince Rainier and her Oscar statuette for The Country Girl.

Kelly’s personal home movies shot on Super 8, and featuring her famous friends and family provide visitors with an extremely rare glimpse into her personal life.
