MAKEUP
JULIA ROBERTS BEAUTY LOOK AT NEW FILM PREMIERE
NEW YORK CITY, August 10 ...  Julia Roberts, left, walked the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, Eat, Pray Love wearing makeup created for her by celebrity makeup artist Genevieve Herr who channelled a modern look that played up Julia’s light brown eyes and her sleek black ensemble with Lancôme products. 

For a natural complexion, Genevieve used Teint Miracle Foundation, an radiance-boosting foundation launching in November, Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and Secret Brightening Powder followed by a cream blush in plum on the apples of the cheeks. To create a soft, smoky eyes mix of blacks and plums she first applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to line the eyes and then blended shadows from the new fall French Coquettes collection called the French Touch Color Design Quad. Her lashes were topped with Définicils Precious Cells Mascara in Black (Cdn$34), pictured left, for a full, natural lash. She finished the look with a neutral lip using Le Lipstique Lip Liner in Sheer Natural, Color Design Lipstick in Love It! and a touch of Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling.

KNOW YOUR FACE TYPE
There is a special glow that makes every bride beautiful. If the cosmetic business could bottle it they would. However, cosmetics do help most brides optimize their look for the wedding day.

Throughout your engagement maintain your beauty regime. Keep your face clean, get or give yourself facials once a month, drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep.  Stress can make your skin look lifeless.

The style of makeup you choose should bring out the best in your face and enhance your personality. Decide which look you want - glamorous, pretty or natural. If you are planning to hire makeup and/or hair services, remember to include those quotes in your wedding binder so that you can compare prices along the way.

Face types
Before you start to create the look you want for your wedding day, it is important that you become aware of the shape of your face and the color of your skin. This will help you decide what works for you. If it doesn't, figure out how you might be able to adjust the various cosmetic elements so that you can get the effect you want.

There are six face shapes:
• Round - full cheeks which are widest at the ears.
• Square - has a strong square jaw line.
• Triangle or pear-shaped - has a narrow forehead and a wide jaw line.
• Heart - is widest at the temples and narrow at the chin.
• Long - narrow throughout from the forehead to the chin.
• Oval - from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin, the face is the same width and perfectly symmetrical.

As well, everyone's face fits into a different group of color tones: Yellow - ivory complexions with much redness; orange - a mixture of red and yellow; and red - pinkish without much yellow. Each color group consists of pale, medium or dark tones. Always choose a foundation shade that is in your own color group. Use a shade lighter or darker to achieve a special effect.

When you are choosing a foundation, test the color by rubbing a small amount onto a section of clean skin along your jaw line. Don't test on your wrist, neck or cheeks; they have a different skin texture from the rest of your face. Test for a few minutes to make sure the color doesn't change after the foundation has been applied.

Color correctors worn under a foundation can hide specific flaws in your complexion while providing a good base for the rest of your makeup and to helping it stay fresh longer. A green corrector will tone down redness; blue will make a flushed complexion look paler; white will help cover up dark circles under your eyes; and purple will give a yellowish complexion a healthier glow. Shaping and highlighting your face can bring out your best features and minimize your weaker ones. Highlight your good points by making them more prominent; shade your bad points with a darker tone to make features you don't like recede into the background.

Make-up Tips
• If you are going to wear false eyelashes and never have worn them before, practice with them beforehand. Don't wait until your wedding day to try them. Also, carry a spare set and glue.
• Get your eyebrows shaped a month before your wedding. If you don't like the result, there is time for them to grow back.
• Wear only water-proof mascara.
• If the weather is humid, extra powder should be applied to tone down the shine.
• Make sure to discuss your makeup with your photographer to help him plan his lighting - natural daylight for day weddings; artificial light for night weddings.
• If you are using a professional makeup artist, make sure he or she knows the type of photography you are having done.
• Before you hire a makeup artist, prepare yourself by having them do a free makeup job in advance.

Skin care & Make-up
If you don't already have a skin care program, this is the perfect time to go on one. You have to know your skin type in order to choose the right cleansing products and to protect your skin from the weather. Your diet has to be right for you to maintain good skin.

If you are going to hire a makeup specialist for your wedding, give yourself plenty of time to shop for one who you feel comfortable with. Many salons offer both makeup and hair services in their shops. Freelance makeup artists and some shop specialists will go to your home.

If you are going to be doing your own makeup, practice on the look you want to create. Don't experiment on your wedding day with new products or looks.

If you want a romantic fairy-tale soft look, do not wear too much makeup. Heavy mascara makes the eyes seem too dark and will spoil the fresh look. (However, remember to use waterproof mascara for those tears).

Hair
The bride's crowning glory! As soon as you have selected the head piece for your dress, shop for a hair stylist. If you have a hairstylist you like and who knows the texture and color of your hair, you will probably be happier having that person do your hair for your wedding. If you are shopping for a new hair stylist ask what their "bridal services" policy is for new clients.

Most stylists will take the time to give you a proper consultation to discuss their service packages. Hair pieces and extensions can be added to short or fine hair to create various effects. Wigs are often used on warm days.

Have your hair done in the salon two or three months before your wedding to make sure you will be happy with the results. Let your hairstylist know if you are planning to take off your headpiece or veil at your reception, so that your hair maintain its style. Go through a mini- rehearsal with your stylist in taking off your headpiece.

Several hair stylists will make house calls before the wedding and meet you at the reception for touch-ups. Remember not to color your hair the day before your wedding in case you need more than 24 hours to fix it. Above all, if you are not all that cosmetic-conscious, reply upon professionals.
