PLANNING A BEACH WEDDING

The traditional beach wedding photograph

Anthony Verombeck

GROOM Editor
It’s usually the groom’s responsibility to choose and plan the honeymoon. This way, you get a chance to do both – help plan your beach wedding and honeymoon all in the same place! You won’t need to travel between your wedding site and honeymoon destination. Once you’re married, you’re already there!

Beach weddings usually take place in the Caribbean, Hawaii, southern or anywhere there is sand and surf. sits in the centre of the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, and there are plenty of lakes in between.

Beach weddings are less expensive than the average hometown wedding and are a great way to avoid family problems caused by personality conflicts, divorces, and cultural, ethnic or religious differences. They also solve the problem of feeling obligated to invite everyone from the workplace, church or school.

When choosing the site for your beach wedding, consider whether the destination offers an all-inclusive package and has the services of an experienced, well-qualified wedding coordinator. Some packages include some of the wedding items for free when you book the wedding/honeymoon package.

And to make sure everything goes smoothly, check out the marriage license requirements before you choose a destination.

Once you have decided upon a beach wedding, you should start to plan a wardrobe that is easy to travel with. And of course, don’t forget to start grooming your feet, as you’ll be taking off your shoes and socks, walking in the sand, and probably carrying your bride in the water for pictures. It’s usually part of the ritual.
